A popular New Brunswick tourist destination will officially open Friday, but this comes a few weeks later than usual due to COVID-19.
Hopewell Rocks Property Manager Noel Hamann says they typically see a lot of international travellers, but not this year, “With our borders closed, we’re certainly not 100 per cent sure what we can expect. We are quite positive, because perhaps we will bond with New Brunswickers who haven’t been to Hopewell Rocks for awhile. Often we ignore that attractions that are right here in our own backyard.”
They’ve made some adjustments due to COVID-19 restrictions, including new signage and hand washing stations.
“Access will be available, and that is the important part, but it might take a little bit longer. If you visit our Facebook page, we just posted today some of our guidelines that we are going to be having so that we can help people have a better experience,”
He adds, the reason people come, which is usually to walk on the ocean floor and see the rocks, will stay the same..
“We really want to be able to interact with our guests and spend more time with people. We will be doing the walking tours throughout the day. We will limit the numbers and it will be a broader distance, but I still think it will be very positive,” Hamann says..
