Pride festivities are going to look a lot different this year in New Brunswick due to the pandemic.
Moncton River of Pride has joined forces with Pride committees in Saint John and Fredericton to hold one festival this summer called Pride NB.
Moncton spokesperson Dylan Mahaney says in-person events will not be possible so it will be a virtual celebration of the LGBTQ+ community instead.
Mahaney says their theme is “bloom” which can mean so many things.
“It could not be more timely because we are all in a state of rediscovery. I think once all of this is over, in terms of COVID, we will be able to bloom into something greater than what we were prior,” he says.
Mahaney adds some traditional events will be featured but in a different way.
Performers are now being sought as final details are ironed out.
Pride NB will be held from July 10-18.
A full slate of programming will be announced soon on their Facebook page and a new website which is now under construction.
