The Owner of Baymount Outdoor Adventures Inc. at Hopewell Rocks, is holding onto optimism for the upcoming season during COVID-19 restrictions.
Owner Shaun Gibbs says they’ll officially open to the public on June 10th, where visitors have the opportunity to ‘Kayak the Rocks’.
“This year, for the first time we went to online reservations, back in February. We probably had around 100 people reserve between February and the beginning of COVID-19. Since then a lot of them have cancelled because they were from out of country, ” Gibbs says.
The majority of their clients in previous years were not from New Brunswick.
“In the past, New Brunswick has represented around five per cent of our clients that come through that go kayaking with us. That is probably going to turn into 100 per cent this summer,” Gibbs says.
They’re taking all the healthy and safety guidelines seriously, by sanitizing kayaks, paddles and life jackets. It’s also suggested that clients wear a face mask.
Gibbs adds they are staying positive, “Since we started our promotion last week, we have had a slight intake of New Brunswickers who have been booking, which is nice. We’ll probably always have walk on space for those clients who just show up as well.”
Baymount Outdoor Adventures Inc offers what they call “The Highest Tidal Paddling Experiences on Earth,” at New Brunswick’s tourism icon, Hopewell Rocks Park.
