The premier of New Brunswick is asking residents to continue following public health guidelines after a significant spike in cases.
Blaine Higgs says while the cluster of cases is in the Campbellton region, everyone needs to cooperate to limit the spread of the virus.
“The threat of COVID-19 to our province has not gone away, and we must all continue to take measures to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe,” says Higgs. “It will not be easy, but if each of us does our part, we can navigate our way through this outbreak.”
He says they are doing what they can to keep everyone at the Manoir La Vallee safe, as they experience an outbreak of COVID-19.
“We have been closely monitoring and testing staff and residents at the Manoir de la Vallée, and residents in the affected wing of the facility have been isolated,” he said.
Higgs says employees of nursing homes in Zone 5 are not permitted to work in more than one facility, whether of not they provide direct care to residents.
He says they are also working with their partners to provide additional staff and equipment to the nursing home affected by the outbreak.
In addition, the Pandemic Task Force has put measures in place to limit the movement of staff.
Higgs also says officers are continuing to monitor travel in and out of the province and that just yesterday, nearly 70 vehicles were turned away at the border.
Higgs says while many New Brunswickers are following regulations, some are still not complying.
He added that yesterday they received 35 reports through their information line and are following up with all reports.
