Maritimers may be feeling a bit nervous about the Atlantic hurricane season this year after destruction from Dorian last fall.
Weather Network meteorologist Doug Gilham says forecasters expect it will be busy season with three named storms already.
Gilham says unfortunately this is a sign of things to come.
“Some research shows a higher than normal threat for an impact in Atlantic Canada. But it’s too early to know if that means some beneficial rain or whether that would be a storm that could bring the potential of damage,” he says.
U.S. and Canadian forecasters are predicting up to 19 named storms this year with about 10 becoming hurricanes.
