New Brunswick Public Health is reporting four new cases of COVID-19 today and all are in the Campbellton region, Zone 5.
The cases involve two individuals in their 50’s and two individuals in their 80’s.
Two are staff members and two are residents of Manoir de la Vallee, a long term care facility in Atholville.
There are now 29 active cases of the virus, one individual from Zone 5 has recovered and there has been one death in that region.
Five patients are hospitalized with one in an intensive care unit.
“The people of the Campbellton-Restigouche region need us to be there for them,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health. “I thank them for their patience and attentiveness, and also thank all our partner organizations from around New Brunswick that have provided needed support to the community in recent days.”
One new case of COVID-19 was reported in the Moncton region, Zone 1, on Tuesday.
Dr. Russell has confirmed the case is a temporary foreign worker who has been in self-isolation since arriving in the province ten days ago.
As per public health protocols, she notes it was their intention to test all of the temporary foreign workers after being here for ten days which they have done.
Dr. Russell says the individual who tested positive remains in self-isolation and contact tracing is ongoing.
She adds consultations with infectious disease specialists are underway to determine if any further action may be needed.
