Premier Blaine Higgs is defending his decision to allow temporary foreign workers back into the province.
One of the workers has tested positive for COVID-19 in the Moncton region.
Higgs says there will always be risks involved as we continue to open up the province and the economy.
“It was clear relating to the requirement for temporary foreign workers that the industries that were impacted to allow them to come up to full speed, the labour force was not available to make that happen,” he says.
Groups from the agriculture and seafood industries were upset when Higgs banned temporary foreign workers.
Even after the ban was lifted, some farmers said it could have serious and long-lasting impacts including millions of dollars in lost production.
