Do not be surprised if Canada’s border with the United States stays closed beyond June 21.
Health Minister Patty Hajdu suggests there is still no hurry to reopen the border to non-essential travel right now.
“My counterparts are doing the negotiations with the United States. I know that they have a number of issues they’re working on as well so one can only hope we can agree on continuing the arrangement that we have. It’s working well for them (the U.S.) as well,” notes Hajdu.
She herself says she is “happy to delay that opening for the time being.”
Hajdu senses a willingness on the part of the United States to also extend the closure agreement.
