One new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in New Brunswick.
Public Health says the case is a health care employee between 20 and 29 who was exposed in Zone 5 (Campbellton region) but lives in the Fredericton region.
The individual is self-isolating and being monitored by health officials.
Chief medical officer of health Dr. Jennifer Russell says continuing to follow public health guidelines is important both indoors and out.
“We do know that the higher risk interactions occur indoors. So when you are indoors it’s even more important especially in your own home. Be conscious and aware of hosting people in your home with respect to those risks,” she says.
Dr. Russell adds the risk of transmission is lower when you are outdoors so that’s how you can prioritize your actions and your decisions and behaviours.
The province has 29 active cases of COVID-19 and there have been two deaths.
Four patients remain in hospital with one in intensive care.
As of today, 38,714 tests have been conducted.
