A committee of New Brunswick MLAs has approved a controversial bill on mandatory vaccinations, but not without changes.
An amendment by Liberal MLA Chuck Chiasson to remove the notwithstanding clause was approved earlier this week.
The clause would have protected the proposed bill against court challenges under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
The bill will now go back to the legislature for debate and third reading, which could happen as early as Thursday.
If the bill passes, it would eliminate non-medical exemptions for children in public schools and daycares.
Students would have to provide either proof of immunization or a medical exemption on a form signed by a medical professional.
