Education minister Dominic Cardy recently unveiled expectations for when students return to class in the Fall.
The New Brunswick Teachers’ Association says it has provided the framework for school administrators to begin planning.
However, President Rick Cuming says there are still number of questions and concerns.
Particularly those questions centered around staffing, school buses and what lunch breaks will look like.
“In these bubble situations, either at [grades] 3 to 5 with the reductions being if possible and at [grades] 6 to 8, where there really aren’t any reductions in class size, those teachers are really concerned about how adequate health and safety is going to be provided for them and their students,” says Cuming.
He says they are working on addressing those concerns.
“Those are all questions that the administration teams have to tackle and we’re working with the districts and department to try and get answer for those teams as this year’s wrapping up,” he says.
Cuming says each school has to assess and identify their individual needs and from there the districts will work to meet them.
