The Saint John Hotel Association hopes to boost reservations from within New Brunswick with its new tourism initiative — Base Camp Saint Awesome.
“With Base Camp Saint Awesome we’re giving New Brunswickers a collection of experiences – fresh new reasons to explore the Saint John region this summer,” said Paulette Hicks, president of the Saint John Hotel Association and General Manager of Delta Hotels by Marriott Saint John, in a news release. “Our message is simple: stay with us and play all over.”
New Brunswick’s tourism industry, including hotels, has taken a big hit since due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the associated stay-at-home measures put in place across the province. Base Camp Saint Awesome is designed to help turn that trend around.
“We’ve developed a collection of ‘experiences’ to inspire visitors from across the province to come and see us in the Saint John region,” said Hicks. “The campaign is designed to enhance the marketing spend in our region and help with recovery throughout the Summer and Fall. We are working with many partners to support Discover Saint John’s summer ad campaign by targeting communities of interest. It’s a great example of working collaboratively to get the message out.”
So far the Base Camp Saint Awesome experiences include a new craft beer route, a kid-approved itinerary, island getaways, and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for bird watchers. There’s also experience that is entirely fresh-air or drive-through, for those who have mobility issues or want to stick to their own vehicles while travelling.
“We are so excited to welcome New Brunswickers to Saint John this summer, and Base Camp Saint Awesome is just the thing to inspire them to come,” said Hicks.
