Toronto council will discuss the possibility of making face masks mandatory in enclosed public spaces.
Ontario’s Medical Officer of Health has recommended requiring face coverings in indoor spaces starting July 7.
The recommendation will come before city council today.
Masks are already required to be worn by users of Toronto Transit vehicles.
A release from the city said while it has made progress in the fight against COVID-19, requiring a mask would be “an inexpensive, acceptable, and non-invasive measure to help control the spread of the virus.”
The province has begun reopening its economy as case loads continued to decrease throughout June.
