Cineplex has announced it will reopen three of its theatres in New Brunswick and two theatres in Nova Scotia later this week.
The theatre chain will open its New Brunswick locations in Saint John, Fredericton and Dieppe on Friday, July 3, with Nova Scotia locations at Dartmouth Crossing and its Scotiabank Theatre in Halifax set to open the same day.
In a release Tuesday, Cineplex promised a phased approach to reopening, citing the health and safety of its employees and guests as the company’s top priority.
Those heading back to theatres can expect reduced seating capacity inside and outside all auditoriums with the launching of reserved seating to create distance in every direction between guests and what Cineplex promises will also be “enhanced cleaning practices” throughout its theatres.
Moviegoers will have to leave their cash at home as Cineplex adds it will only be accepting debit, credit and gift card purchases, saying it will also limit food offerings to “popcorn and other core concessions.”
Employees will have personal protective equipment while the company announced hand sanitizer will be easily available for both guests and employees.
Cineplex also plans to offer $5 tickets to welcome back movie-lovers and show popular releases such as The Invisible Man, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Jumanji: The Next Level.
The company states it anticipates to open more of its theatres across the region throughout the month of July.
