More layoffs from Organigram.
The company announced Friday it has reduced its workforce by around 25 per cent, which will affect about 220 employees.
That includes a small number who are not already on a temporary layoff.
The Company plans to move forward with a leaner, cross-functional workforce of approximately 433 active employees operating out of its indoor production facility in Moncton, New Brunswick.
Company-wide, Organigram has a total workforce of 609 employees including 84 employees remaining on temporary layoff who may be recalled if and when needed as the business requires.
“These decisions are never easy to make, but we are committed to ensuring the Company is appropriately sized relative to market conditions,” said Organigram CEO Greg Engel.
The company says it plans to continue its reduced production for the foreseeable future. The Company will cultivate less than the target production capacity of cannabis at its Moncton campus, but will continue to focus on bringing new cultivars to meet consumer demands.
A news release states this is in response to current market conditions during COVID-19.
