Hundreds of National Golf Course Owners Association of Canada member golf courses are offering free golf to kids under the age of sixteen who are accompanied by a paying adult during the Take A Kid To The Course program beginning on July 6.
“After months of staying inside, online business meetings and virtual learning; families are eager to get outside and engage in fun physical activities,” says Jeff Calderwood, CEO, NGCOA Canada. “Golf is such a healthy and safe activity, and Take A Kid To The Course is a fantastic way for families to enjoy the sport together. So I encourage all parents to take advantage of this opportunity for some free golf for your kids!”.
You can find the list of participating clubs here.
Jordan Vizena, Events Coordinator for the NGCOA says the program is one of the best ways to be introduced to the game, “It’s important when you’re new to golf to have a mentor, someone who can show you how to get around the course and the rules.”
More than that he says the first person people play with leaves a lasting impression, “Everyone can tell you who they played their first-round with, who helped them learn and having someone do that is key to getting kids into the game.”
Some clubs have limited tee times so there may be restrictions at some participating clubs so it’s recommended you call ahead of time to make arrangements.
