Prince Edward Island has no new cases of COVID-19 today.
Public Health identified five new cases over the weekend – all Islanders – who are not connected to the Atlantic travel bubble or seasonal residents.
Chief medical officer of health Dr. Heather Morrison says all five are at home and doing well.
“One of theses cases, a young man (in his 20s) travelled to Nova Scotia and spent time with another man in his 20s who had recently arrived from the United States,” she says.
Dr. Morrison says that individual has tested positive for COVID-19 in Nova Scotia and he did try to enter P.E.I. but she says he was turned away at the Confederation Bridge.
She says one Island case works at a long term care home and she adds results have been negative so far for staff and residents who have been tested.
Dr. Morrison says staff and residents will be tested again later this week.
