Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer of health says they haven’t taken mandatory masks off the table.
Dr. Robert Strang says, one thing hasn’t changed, Public Health still strongly recommends wearing a mask where it’s not possible to physically distance.
Strang says they will make masks mandatory if it’s required.
“No final decision has been made,” he says. “Right now, we’re sticking with our strong recommendation, but we continue the work of having things in place that if we need to go down the road of mandatory, we are ready to do that.”
Strang says there are details that need to be figured out before they could introduce a mandatory mask policy.
He says they are exploring those.
“From a legal perspective, from a logistical perspective,” he says. “If we did decide to have masks mandatory in certain settings, what are the things we have to make sure we have in place to allow that to happen effectively.”
Strang announced no new cases Thursday. He says there’s four active cases left in the province.
