A survey by Narrative Research shows 83 per cent of Canadians say they would support making masks mandatory in public places.
Spokesperson Margaret Chapman says the support depends on where you live in the country.
“The level of support for making a move towards mandatory mask wearing was lower in Atlantic Canada and actually lower in New Brunswick than it is anywhere in the country,” she notes.
Chapman says support for mandatory masks was highest in Ontario at 90 per cent where they had large numbers of COVID-19 cases.
Overall support is generally consistent regardless of age, gender or household income, although those aged 55 and up are most likely to voice complete support.
More than 1,200 Canadian adults recently took part in the online survey from July 9 to 11.
