Thousands of patients across Canada are using medical cannabis but some physicians may still have doubts about the drug.
A researcher is now studying the effectiveness of medical cannabis on patients.
Dr. Hance Clarke says many physicians are still skeptical about the drug.
“When patients sit in physician’s offices, unfortunately, they are often met with ‘we just don’t believe in it’ and ‘there isn’t enough science’. So we’re kind of playing catch up here in terms of the other side of the ball,” he says.
Cannabis has been thrust into the medical world fairly recently with regulation changes in 2014 and recreational use legalized in 2018.
Later this year, Clarke says he’s planning to launch a medical education platform with scientists who have studied cannabis so physicians can learn more.
