After working 12 to 14 hours a day, keeping the public updated about COVID-19, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jennifer Russell says she is now been working behind the scenes.
There is still much work to be done, prior to a second wave, “We have Department of Health level meetings We have all of government approach meetings. We have distinctly public health meetings and also at the National level with Public Health Agency of Canada. We do have to take some down time to prepare for the Fall as well.”
Dr. Russell says she isn’t working seven days a week anymore, but the intensity of the continued need to plan and fine tune, is still there.
“We continually re- look at what we’ve done, re-look at what we can approve and whatever new things we are going to face in the Fall, make sure that we are ready and make sure that we are planning. We have to look at the things we have in place to make sure they are fined tuned and consider anything new we have to put into place to deal with whatever is coming up in the fall,” Dr. Russell says.
One of the things she will be doing, is taking a vacation. She is also encouraging her staff to do the same.
