Only one injury reported after a structure fire on MacLaren Boulevard Tuesday night.
The Saint John Fire Department was called to a structure fire in the north end at 8:26 p.m. to reports of heavy smoke and fire from the roof of a two-storey, four-unit townhouse.
Four families totalling 28 people were displaced. In a news release Wednesday afternoon, the Canadian Red Cross said it arranged emergency help for seven adults and 21 children from families of nine, eight, six and five people.
The one injury reported was from a resident who was transported to the hospital by ambulance for examination.
The top two apartments sustained heavy damage and the two bottom apartments sustained primarily water damage.
Crews were on scene for six hours.
