The selection process for the Order of New Brunswick has been delayed by the pandemic.
Recipients are normally announced on New Brunswick Day.
But the order’s advisory council was unable to meet this spring to review the nominations because of COVID-19 restrictions.
“Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 our selection process has been delayed, but we still intend to recognize individuals deserving of this honour before the end of the year,” Premier Blaine Higgs said in a statement.
The council plans to meet this fall with the announcement of this year’s recipients coming in late October or November.
The Order of New Brunswick was established in 2000 to celebrate the achievements of those who have contributed to the economic, cultural and social development of the province.
More than 170 people have been invested so far.
