Residents are reporting cases of scam calls coming from familiar people or places.
Saint John police say fraudsters are making calls claiming there are outstanding warrants for arrest in order to get personal information or money.
In some cases, the phone numbers are masked under a familiar person or location including the Saint John Police Force non-emergency line.
Residents are reminded to be cautious when providing personal information over the phone and police do not call to ask for money.
The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre website should be visited regularly for the latest information on frauds, say police.
