An early morning transformer fire caused minor damage to a strip mall in the uptown Saint John area.
Fire crews were called to the building at 70 Crown Street shortly after 5 a.m. Monday.
Platoon Chief Roy Byers said a transformer mounted on the back of the building had caught fire.
Byers said the flames made their way inside the building but crews knocked them down before any serious damage was done.
Saint John Energy said about 50 customers were left without power because of the fire.
