Well, that’s what they say, but we didn’t listen.
For a few years, we had heard of and seen pictures of friends going to The Welsford Falls.
Our schedule just never lined up to get us there.
We finally got the chance this week.
It was a beautiful day. We piled into the car, brought some snacks, water and sunscreen (I burn like bacon on a cheap frying pan).
It was only a half hour drive from home to our destination. When we got there, a few other vehicles had already parked along the area leading into the pathway.
We started our walk in. The trail was easy to the first Lookout point to the water rushing by. It was beautiful.
As we went further in, the trail got a little more tricky. If you are OK with climbing a few hills on rocky terrain, you’ll love it.
Just about the halfway point of the trail, We came to a spot that had an old shed that was long abandoned. Lots of graffiti and tagging. The building wasn’t safe to go into, but interesting to look at and wonder how they got the building materials in probably 30 years ago or so.
We had another look down over the edge to the water below and marveled at the power of rushing current. We snapped a few photos and could see that the waterway went well past the culvert that the highway ran across.
Next, We get to the top of the trail and we can see straight down to the pool that the falls collect into. It was beautiful. The deep pools looked black and some of the shallow pools looked emerald green while others not in shade of the trees reflected the blue sky.
To get to the bottom of the trail, we had to use the taught rope that was put up as a safety line and a trail guide. Going down was a bit tricky but was fun.
Once we got down, it was well worth the trip. There was a young couple that were relaxing under the cascading water. We said hello and stayed further back. We had a beautiful spot on some big rocks where Jan and I sat facing the beautiful site.
The sound of the falls and the light breeze in the trees was wonderful. We soon heard other distant voices approaching as others headed down the trail we just came from.
It’s a beautiful spot that isn’t far from home.
It is a bit of a hike. Wear good shoes and be prepared to climb a little bit.
