For the first time in almost a month, Prince Edward Island has new cases of COVID-19.
Five cases have been confirmed and all are men in their 30s and 40s who are considered essential workers.
Chief medical health officer Dr. Heather Morrison says the men work in the same industry and arrived on July 30 from outside Canada.
“These individuals have been in self-isolation since arriving in P.E.I. and we are anticipating that they will have very few if any close contacts,” says Dr. Morrison.
Meantime, New Brunswick is reporting one new case of COVID-19 in the Fredericton region (Zone 3).
Dr. Cristin Muecke, deputy chief medical officer of health, says the individual is in their 60s who is past the 14-day contagious period and no longer symptomatic.
She suspects this is a travel-related case, related to Tuesday’s confirmed case and both are under investigation.
New Brunswick now has eight active cases of the virus.
Elsewhere in the Atlantic travel bubble, Nova Scotia has no new or active cases of COVID-19.
Newfoundland and Labrador is also reporting no new cases but two active cases remain.
