The leader of the provincial NDP is blasting Blaine Higgs for calling an unnecessary election.
Mackenzie Thomason says, “After all of the successes in keeping New Brunswickers safe during the pandemic, the Premier has chosen now, of all times, to force an election, putting uncounted citizens, and their families, at risk. He should be ashamed of the direction he taken the voters, who already have been under an increased burden due the COVID-19 pandemic.”
He also had harsh words for Liberal leader Kevin Vickers.
“He chose a path that puts voters at risk. Rather than try and negotiate, your political grandstanding has achieved nothing for you, your party, or the hardworking men and women of New Brunswick. For this, you should be ashamed,” Thomason says.
The NDP leader acknowledged the election call has the party staffers working overtime to ensure that all candidates are properly vetted before the deadline imposed by Elections NB, and that election platforms are finalized over the next week.
