A longtime Liberal MLA from northern New Brunswick says he will not be seeking re-election.
In a statement posted Tuesday to Facebook, Brian Kenny said it is time to open another chapter in his life.
“Together we have made a difference for our community and the province. I consider myself very fortunate to have had so many people support me over the years, permitting me to represent you in Fredericton,” wrote Kenny.
“I have met so many wonderful people, making many great friends and memories along the way, for that I am truly grateful.”
Kenny was first elected in 2003 in the riding of Bathurst, which is now known as Bathurst West-Beresford.
He served as Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development under the Brian Gallant government.
Kenny is the third Liberal MLA to announce they will not be reoffering, joining Moncton’s Cathy Rogers and Saint John’s Gerry Lowe.
