The provincial Liberal Party leader believes the Blaine Higgs government has ignored Indigenous voices in the province.
Kevin Vickers says he’ll prioritize First Nations representation, and pledged to make every effort to have a First Nations member in his cabinet.
“We all have to come together, and the First Nations people need a voice in all our decisions, just as every other citizen of our great province does,” the party leader told reporters and supporters Saturday.
At his campaign headquarters opening, Vickers discussed the possibility of curbing the use of glyphosate on crown lands in New Brunswick.
He also repeated his claim that he is working with federal leaders to bring small modular reactor production to New Brunswick.
“One of these reactors can keep a large metropolitan city going for a period of five years,” Vickers said. “New technology that exists right here in New Brunswick.”
The Liberal leader said the possibility of reactor production puts New Brunswick in a position to “save the world from climate change.”
He hinted that an announcement on the production could come soon, and that the industry would bring tens of thousands of jobs to the province.
