The leader of the New Brunswick NDP says his party is still relevant and the candidates are ready to start more actively campaigning.
The deadline to register candidates with Elections NB was Friday afternoon. A total of 33 NDP candidates were confirmed by the deadline.
“It is only through the hard work, dedication, 18 hour days, and the strength of our candidates that we were able to achieve this number to ensure most of New Brunswick is able to vote for NDP in their riding,” said leader Mackenzie Thomason in a news release Monday.
Thomason said he is not concerned that they do not have someone in every riding because his party has been rebuilding based on a four-year timeline.
We thought that nobody wanted an election, all the polls told us there certainly wasn’t an overwhelming desire to have an election, and yet [Blaine Higgs] and [Kevin] Vickers irresponsibly forced one on New Brunswickers anyway.”
New Brunswick voters will head to the polls on Sept. 14.
