Bill Oliver will represent the people of Kings Centre for a third term after a large victory in Monday’s election.
The Progressive Conservative candidate received 4,583 votes, according to the unofficial results from Elections New Brunswick.
Green Party candidate Bruce Dryer placed second with 1,006 votes, followed by Liberal Paul Adams with 911 votes.
“Certainly it’s a humbling experience at any time you win an election, but with the margin of victory that I have, it certainly vindicates the work that we’ve been doing here in the riding in the past two years, and in the past six for myself, I would say,” said Oliver.
Oliver, who was first elected to the legislature in 2014, said people know what they can expect with him as their MLA.
“I think that what they can expect is that they’re going to get more of the same. I’m very much a constituency person. I learned that when I was executive assistant to Bev Harrison when he was the member for Hampton-Kings,” he said.
“Now that I’ve had the opportunity, I just continue to do the same thing.”
Oliver said he thinks his victory also speaks well to what the party has been talking about.
“We want to make sure that we continue on the same track. We want to be fiscally responsible. But at the same time, we want to address the needs that are out there for our community,” he said.
According to the unofficial results, voter turnout in Kings Centre was 65.96 per cent.
