A Saint John resident is being recognized by the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission.
Emma Coakley is the recipient of this year’s Youth Human Rights Award.
She is being recognized for her dedication to making people aware of the topic of amputation, prostheses, the War Amps and the PlaySafe program.
“I think that my experience as an amputee and my positive attitude help to make the messages even clearer,” said Coakley in a news release.
“I hope that the knowledge I provide will enhance people’s understanding and open their minds to accepting people with unique differences.”
Claudette Bradshaw of Moncton is receiving the New Brunswick Human Rights Award for helping victims of discrimination based on social or family status.
The awards ceremony will take place this winter.
