This weekend, the Royal Canadian Air Force will honour the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
In Saint John Sunday, a small group of 25 invited guests will participate in a ceremony at the Cenotaph in King’s Square to remember those who lost their lives 80 years ago.
At approximately 11:00 a.m., four CH-146 Griffon helicopters will perform a flyover to help commemorate the battle.
The helicopters will be departing from 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown 30 minutes earlier, and after the Saint John appearance will head north for Fredericton.
The Battle of Britain is considered a turning point in the Second World War, and was the first major military campaign fought exclusively in the air.
