The days are getting shorter and the leaves are starting to change colour.
Autumn officially arrives in New Brunswick at 10:30 Tuesday morning.
Weather Network meteorologist Michael Carter says the forecast for fall is warm and wet… but what about winter?
“Our thinking right now is that things are looking good in terms of those milder temperatures persisting. We’re expecting the core of the cold – the Arctic air – to really be confined to Western Canada this year… British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan.”
With a La Nina weather pattern setting up over the Pacific Ocean, Carter believes the West will bear the brunt of the upcoming winter and Atlantic Canada will should be spared the worst.
But he says that could also mean more varied types of precipitation such as freezing rain or ice pellets.
He adds more details will come in the winter outlook which will be released in early December.
