The Campobello ferry will operate on a reduced schedule when its extended season begins this week.
East Coast Ferries Ltd. says the regular season will end Sunday and there will be no service Monday or Tuesday.
Starting Sept. 30, the ferry will only operate on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, according to the private ferry operator’s website.
The boat will leave Deer Island every hour from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from Campobello Island hourly from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Earlier this month, the provincial government announced the summer ferry service would be extended until Dec. 1 — about two months longer than usual.
Without the ferry, residents are forced to travel through Maine to get to mainland New Brunswick.
