Signs of autumn are all around us in New Brunswick as the leaves change colour into stunning hues of red, yellow and orange.
But experts say the foliage may not be as vivid this fall given the summer drought which has caused stress for trees.
Leaves turn from green to various colours when chlorophyll breaks down in trees as the days grow shorter and the temperatures get cooler.
The Weather Network meteorologist Michael Carter says warm days and cool nights will often produce a brilliant display of fall colours.
Carter adds if the nights are too cold and frosty, the annual show won’t be as spectacular.
According to Tourism New Brunswick, the fall colours in the north tend to peak in late September.
The peak time for leaf-peeping across southern New Brunswick is typically early to mid-October.
