The team of physicians looking after US President Donald Trump as he receives treatment against COVID-19 provided an update Saturday afternoon.
Dr. Sean Conley says Trump is doing very well and is no longer showing any of the symptoms he had at the time of his diagnosis.
The president has also started a five-day treatment of the antiviral medication Remdesivir at the Walter Reed Medical Center on Friday.
Reporters then asked whether he would stay at the facility for the duration of the treatment.
“If he needs all 5 days, that will likely be the course but again, every day we’re reviewing with the team, his need for being here and as soon as he gets to the point where it’s not a requirement, he may still need some care but if we can provide that down town at the House then we’ll transition at that point,” Conley says.
There was some confusion around when the president received the diagnosis when Dr. Conley said Trump was 72 hours into the diagnosis.
Conley then said Trump was tested early Thursday and news came Friday morning that he had COVID-19, which would have been just 36 hours prior.
