VIA Rail has suspended passenger service indefinitely on The Ocean train between Montreal and Halifax.
The route was halted in mid-March due to the pandemic and it was expected to resume in November.
The Crown corporation cites the growing number of COVID-19 cases across the country for the postponement of service.
Other long distance routes including The Canadian in the West also remain suspended.
VIA Rail passenger trains in Central Canada are operating as usual.
The train station in Moncton also serves as a depot for Maritime Bus.
