Public Health is reporting 14 new cases of COVID-19 in New Brunswick today.
Four cases are in Zone 1 (Moncton region), each of the individuals are in their 70s. Each of these cases are linked to the outbreak at the Notre-Dame Manor and are self-isolating.
The 10 cases in the Campbellton region include three people in their 30s, two in their 50s, and five in their 60s. All 10 cases are linked to the regional outbreak and are self-isolating.
There are now 71 active cases in the province. Five people are in hospital, including one in intensive care.
Health officials also announced Sunday that residents in the “orange” level — Zones 1 and 5 — must also wear masks in outdoor public places, in addition to indoor public places. They define outdoor public places as “anywhere other than the yard of a private single dwelling residence where the public gather, such as parks, playgrounds, markets, dog parks, etc.”
Residents in all other zones are only required to wear masks in indoor public places.
Public Health also announced a student at L.E. Reinsborough School in Dalhousie had been confirmed. The province is carrying out contact tracing and says it will make a decision on changes to learning later this weekend.
L.E. Reinsborough is the second school in Dalhousie with a case discovered this weekend after the province announced a case had been discovered at Academie Notre-Dame. A release from the province indicates they will make a decision soon about how learning might be impacted.
Moncton residents are also being warned of potential exposure to the virus at Centre Pere-Patrice-Leblanc on Murphy Avenue. Anyone who was at that location on October 4 between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. is asked to self-monitor for symptoms for two weeks.
