A 19-year-old man from Sussex was arrested Sunday after several thefts from vehicles over the weekend.
About 7:15 a.m Sunday, officers from Sussex RCMP were informed of a man going through unlocked vehicles parked on Main Street and on neighbouring streets.
RCMP received 15 separate reports concerning thefts from vehicles over 24 hours from Saturday into Sunday.
“These are often crimes of opportunity because someone can get in and out of an unlocked vehicle quickly and easily, says Cpl. Mathieu Vachon of the Sussex RCMP. “It only takes a second to lock your vehicle and ensure valuables are kept out of sight, which can greatly reduce your risk of becoming a victim of theft.”
The man was released on conditions with a provincial court appearance scheduled for January 20, 2021.
Police want to hear from people in the Sussex area who noticed something was taken from their vehicle between October 17th and October 18th.
Anyone impacted by these thefts should contact the Sussex RCMP detachment at 506-433-7700.
