Many businesses that were forced to close while in the orange level of the COVID-19 recovery plan are still hoping for change.
They want Public Health to consider amending criteria at the orange level, that would help keep them open, if we have another outbreak.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jennifer Russell says, “Because this pandemic is going to be a continuous learning experience, every time we have outbreaks, every time we see transmission patterns, we will continue to use that information to inform our decisions moving forward.”
Several owners of spas, hair salons and aestheticians, and even Coaches of Organized sports, spoke out against closures at the orange level.
They say they have operational plans in place and have taken all of the necessary steps to keep their clients safe during COVID-19.
Dr. Russell says they have actually already revised the red, orange and yellow phases at least once, and that is posted on our website.
“We definitely have met with the Cosmetology and Barbers Association this week, so more to follow. We will continue to evolve our approach as we continue to evolve out learning,” Dr. Russell says.
With the number of cases in Zone 1 declining, it returned to the yellow level at 12:01am on Friday morning.
