New Brunswick’s chief medical officer of health is asking people in the St. Stephen area to remain vigilant.
It comes as health officials in the state of Maine deal with a COVID-19 outbreak in the Calais area.
“That’s very, very close to St. Stephen and so I think everybody in that area really needs to be vigilant at this point in time,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell during a news conference Thursday.
An investigation has been launched at the Second Baptist Church, where more than two dozen cases have been reported.
There have been 30 confirmed or probable cases of the virus reported in Washington County, which includes the Calais area, in the past week.
