Kennebecasis Valley fire crews saved three dogs from a burning home in Quispamsis on Sunday.
Emergency crews were called to a home on Roberts Lane shortly before 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Division Chief Shawn White says firefighters were met with heavy smoke coming from the home.
“We had initial reports that there was three dogs still inside,” said White.
Crews knocked down the exterior of the fire and were able to get inside the home to save the dogs, he said.
“The family was extremely happy. There was a young daughter that was here, she was overwhelmed with joy the fact that her three dogs were found and were alive. It was a really big sense of relief for the occupants of the home,” he said.
“It didn’t look very promising at the beginning, just based on the smoke and fire conditions. The firefighters were able to do a really good search and they were able to find the three dogs, so they were relieved as well.”
White said the home was “basically a total loss” but no one was hurt. The homeowners arrived on the scene around the same time as firefighters, he said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, said White. The family of three is receiving emergency help from the Canadian Red Cross.
