Former Nova Scotia MP Peter MacKay is not returning to federal politics.
MacKay represented Central Nova from 1997 to 2015; members of the Conservative riding association asked him to represent them in the next federal election, whenever that may be, in September.
In a tweet, MacKay says he discussed it with his family members, and made the tough decision not to run again.
He ran for the federal Conservative leadership; he lost to Erin O’Toole in August.
