Lobster fishing season has begun in fishing areas 36, 37 and 38 off the coast of southern New Brunswick.
Tuesday was dumping day in the two areas, which run from St. Stephen to east of St. Martins, and include the waters off Grand Manan Island.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) says the lobster season runs until June 29 in fishing area 38, which surrounds Grand Manan.
In fishing areas 36 and 37, the season runs until Jan. 14, and then from March 31 to June 29.
DFO says lobster fishing vessels with a full-time licence are limited to 300 traps in area 36 and 375 traps in area 38. A part-time licence is allowed 30 per cent of the limit.
Fishing area 37 is a small area that is shared by those with a licence for either area 36 or 38. When fishing in area 37, area 36 and 38 licence holders are subject to the conditions of their primary fishing area.
