The Samuel-de-Champlain school community in Saint John is mourning the loss of a recent graduate.
Jonathan Donovan died suddenly in Moncton on Wednesday due to complications from Type 1 Diabetes, according to his obituary.
Donovan graduated in June and recently started school at Oulton College with hopes of joining the RCMP.
His obituary describes him as a family-oriented person who wanted to help people in their times of need.
“His life was stopped too soon, before he could enter into the next chapter and for that we are heartbroken,” said the obituary. “He will be mourned and we will never get over this loss, but he will be remembered for every second of every day for how wonderful he was, how much potential he still had left to give, and how deeply he cared for his friends and family.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Samuel-de-Champlain school said Donovan’s passing will leave a big emptiness in the school and community. Dozens of people have commented on the post expressing their condolences.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been launched online to help the family pay for funeral expenses. It had raised more than $14,000 as of early Friday afternoon.
