Federal and provincial agencies are helping Saint John deal with the ‘significant cyberattack’.
The city’s website and all of its IT systems remain down after the attack, which was made public late Sunday.
A release from the city Monday said they would not be releasing details on which systems were affected, and how effective the attack was.
They say it’s ‘cybersecurity best-practice’ not to provide too many details, which could compromise its position in fending off future attacks, including from the perpetrators of the attack, as well as potential copycats.
Without providing specifics, the city said it will work with multiple agencies to manage further risks.
The Saint John Police Force is also investigating with the help of the RCMP’s Digital Forensics Unit.
The release said that further ‘pertinent information’ would be released as it becomes available.
