Canada’s health minister calls it “another glimmer of hope” as we prepare to get through a “very difficult winter.”
Patty Hajdu states news that Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine trials are 94.5 percent effective is good for Canada because of our association with the biotech giant.
“Moderna is one of the vaccines that Canada actually has procured so that’s also good news. They have also submitted to Health Canada for rolling regulatory reviews,” points out Hajdu.
The health minister explains Canada has been able to secure 56 million vaccine doses from Moderna and 20 million doses from AstraZeneca “And millions more from other suppliers as well.”
Hajdu adds “The good news is that we’ve been following the advice of our experts on the vaccine task force placing our bets…on vaccines that the experts, that our researchers, virologists, and industry experts have been saying are the most likely to result in success.”
She is hopeful a vaccine rollout can take place in the first three months of next year.
