Do not expect the federal government to put major pandemic restrictions on your plans for Christmas.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau admits the holidays will be different this year because of COVID-19 but any changes will depend on the region of the country you live in.
“I don’t think it is going to be necessary certainly it’s not desirable to invoke the Federal Emergencies Act. I think we can work closely with the provinces on making sure we’re all doing the right things without having to go heavy-handed from the federal government,” explains Trudeau.
The prime minister suggests the steps we take now will determine how we will be able to celebrate Christmas with our family and friends.
Meantime, Trudeau is warning us not to get too complacent because a COVID vaccine may be on the horizon.
He points out “A vaccine can only protect you once you’ve gotten the shot. So until that happens we all need to double down to get this second wave under control.”
